Paphiopedilum delenati

Known to science since 1914 after being introduced by M. Delenat after whom it is named. Originally from North and South Vietnam and though to be extinct in the wild.   Was not described until 1924 by A. Guillaumin from a second site in Central Vietnam where it was re-discovered during 1922.

Terrestrial plant up to 25cm.-(10”) tall; 13cm.-(5”) long x 5cm.-(2”) wide are green, mottled and lined with darker green on the face and purple spots appear on the underside.   Inflorescence can be up to 20cm.-(8”) tall, reddish and supporting 1 or 2 – 8cm.-(3.2”) diam. pinkish flowers.
